Anne Russell was an exponent of Butoh inspired physical theatre .She carries its principles of emotion and expression into the medium of painting and drawing the accompanying image is from her Days as a Butoh performer /dancer with the Lindsay Kemp Company with whom she worked on many productions 1968-1980 most notably, Oscar Wildes' "SALOME" where she played the title role (with all the dialogue ) and was the first to do so since Sarah Bernhadt .
